Empowering hearts and hands
Come and Teach Valuable Skills at our Community Center and Trade School
Join our community and teach through hands-on classes, seminars, and workshops. We utilize staff and volunteers to teach different practical skills to the community both at the community center and trade school. Help us by using your skillset and empowering others for a brighter future. The trade school has set courses but the community center is open to any practical skill to make life better or impart knowledge in the community.
For the Community Center we are looking for individuals to come volunteer to teach skills or crafts to women, children, or elderly folks. We are open to a wide variety of such classes like:
- Bible Studies
- Canning (food preservation)
- Soap making
- Sewing
- tutoring youth (homework help)
- English tutoring (help with reading/writing)
- Gardening
- Knitting/crocheting
- Nutrition/hygiene
- Also talks on topics to help the women of the community cope with difficulties, trauma
The community center is more of a laid back environment and teaches classes, seminars, or workshops on weekends, evenings, and holidays. Small skills can have a big impact in the life of an individual. Being able to preserve food helps to feed your family through droughts. Being able to sew can be a business or just mend your families’ clothes. Elderly folks are able to hang out at the community center during the day so crafts to entertain them and Bible Studies are an option as well. We also do Bible studies for the women and children too. The community center has family events monthly and volunteering to bring a fun filled day/evening is encouraged.
For the Trade School we are looking for skilled individuals in trades such as:
- Construction
- Plumbing
- Electricity
We are looking for these skilled individuals to come volunteer as guest lecturers at the trade school. If you can volunteer time to teach from your experience and work alongside the students/teachers to show how you tackle different elements/issues that arise in those trades, please contact us. Even the business aspect of those trades and how to run a business in that trade is something we are looking for guest lecturers. We are open to guest lecturers coming for one week up through a month. We are open to all day workshops or just coming into the regular classrooms to work alongside the students as they practice their skills.
